Barcelona: Spanish police are investigating a series of cases of women who are injected with the possibility of syringes in crowded clubs, following a similar incident in England and France.
The attacks, reported to the police or on social media over the past few weeks, raised fears that sexual predators may have found variants in thorny drinks to prey on women.

So far, however, there are no traces of drugs or other toxic products that are detected and there are no cases of related sexual violence reported.

Over the past few weeks, the police have registered 23 cases in Catalonia, mostly in the Lloret de Mar tourist city and in Barcelona, and 12 in the Basque country.

Similar victim accounts. The woman, usually a young woman, is partying when she feels a needle prick on her arms or legs and then becomes dizzy or sleepy, said Basque police.

The police asked anyone who believes that they have been targeted to go to the health center as soon as possible and report the incident.

A number of cases of “spiking needles” were reported in England in 2021 and in France this year.

Spain registered its first attack in early July, during the Running Pamplona Bull Festival.
