A bridge in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) collapsed when officials gathered to inaugurate it, according to the local press news agency Khaama. Accident videos circulating on social media where people mock the quality of construction. The small bridge was built to help local residents cross the river during the rainy season. The temporary structure that is there before the bridge often breaks, the news agency said in his report.
One video shows officials standing on the bridge to formalize it officially during the official event. The inauguration will be complete with cutting red ribbons tied to one end of the bridge.
But once one of the delegates – a woman – took out scissors to cut the ribbon, the bridge surrendered to the pressure of the officials.
The video shows that female officials who seek help and are ready to jump to a safe place.
Security personnel immediately rushed to the place and dragged the woman from a falling bridge.
Other official members of the delegation were left to hang but fortunately, did not fall to the ground. Others were immediately seen rushing to help the stranded officials.
The incident occurred last week, according to Iharare. The bridge collapsed and broke into two.
“Don’t be surprised if the cost of this bridge is more than one million dollars of taxpayers,” a tweeted user.
“Looks like the ribbon is the one who unites the bridge,” said another.
