Scientists have found a series of mysterious holes at the bottom of the Atlantic Ocean and asked internet users to offer their theory of how these holes are formed.
Bringing to Facebook, Marine Administration and National Atmosphere (NOAA) posted photos of underwater formations. They informed that the “perfect” hole was found on Saturday but had previously been reported from the region. They found a unique curve as part of “Voyage to the Ridge 2022” – Three Sea Exploration Exploration Exploration Exploration on the NOAA Okeanos Explorer Ship.

“On Saturday #okeanos Dive, we observed several sets of sublinear holes in sediment. These holes have previously been reported from the region, but as long as they remain a mystery, “NOAA said on social media.

“While they look almost man -made, a small pile of sediment around the hole makes them look like they are dug up by … something,” he added and further asking for their “hypothesis”.

A fun challenge triggers many responses. One person wrote, “I didn’t say that this was an alien, but that was an alien.” Others suggest that they are “small cracks” that allow gas to escape. “It looks somewhat similar to the burst of sand that appears during the earthquake,” wrote the user.

The third says, “This is for me it seems that sediment is falling, or water flows from a gap on the geological shelf or cave roof.” “The previous unknown crab species hiding in a rectangular hole and hunting in a linear package, waiting for prey to fall into their grip,” the fourth commented.

In diving on Saturday, scientists investigated the seabed at a depth of about 3 km while visiting the top of the underwater volcano in the north of Azores – near the middle of the middle atlantic. The discovery was carried out during the Okeanos ship’s trip to the Ridge 2022 expedition where scientists explore and map deep water areas that are not understood.

In a press release, NOAA said that the researchers could not determine the source of the hole or how they were built. But they have hypothesized that the hole can show excavation by organisms that live in sediments or excavations and transfer, perhaps through complementary eating large animals on the surface of the sediment.

“The origin of Hole is still a mystery,” said the federal organization.
