In July, Ormax released a list of the most streamed Hindi movies of 2022. And we decided to watch them all, some for the second time in case we’ve already watched any/few of them. To conclude, there were a few that stood out more than the others. So, here’s a list of our favorite 5 films from the Ormax list:
- A Thursday
Yami Gautam’s A Thursday has been streamed over 25.5 million times since its release. It’s not just the top movie on Ormax’s list, but one of our favorites as well. The nailbiting plot combined with Yami’s spine-chilling acting and Atul Kulkarni’s brilliant performance, kept us hooked till the very end. In fact, it was completely worth a second watch as well.
- Sharmaji Namkeen
Rishi Kapoor’s posthumous release Sharmaji Namkeen was streamed over 12.7 million times by the viewers making it to the top streamed movies list. If you haven’t watched it already, the movie follows the life of Sharmaji, an elderly middle-class man trying to come to terms with his retired life. The role is played to perfection by the two legendary actors, Paresh Rawal and the late Rishi Kapoor. If nothing else, the mere presence of Rishi Kapoor makes this film worth multiple watches.
- Dasvi
Abhishek Bachchan has absolutely nailed the role of an egoistic uneducated politician while Yami Gautam aces her role as a strict police officer in Dasvi. No wonder the movie has been streamed over 10.4 million. The movie teaches you the importance of education in the most fun yet heart-touching way.
- Forensic
Vikrant Massey and Radhika Apte’s Forensic: The Truth Lies Within, also called Forensic, is the remake of the 2020 Malayalam film with the same name. The Hindi version that was recently released on OTT has been streamed over 8.6 million times making it one of the Top streamed Hindi movies. Vikrant has played his part to perfection, while Radhika plays her part with absolute finesse. Moreover, the plot of the movie has also been slightly tweaked to make it more interesting. Watch it if you haven’t already.
- Love Hostel
With over 7.5 million streams since its release, Love Hostel, starring Bobby Deol, Vikrant Massey and Sanya Malhotra has definitely pulled at the heartstrings of the audience. The movie is a raw depiction of the Honor Killing culture that is still prevalent in our country. Most importantly, the film showcases the truth in these cases without sugarcoating anything. And that makes it a must-watch on our list.
