Encouraging sign, iCarly fans: despite a February 8th cancellation date, the sitcom appears to have been revived, with the cancellation date no longer visible. It’s unknown how long it’ll be available on Netflix in the future.
When iCarly premiered on Netflix in the United States on February 8th, 2021, it was an unexpected hit.
Netflix obtained just two seasons of the show, although they were really seasons 1-3 that had been repackaged. Seasons 4 through 6 were never uploaded to Netflix since they were only available on Paramount+.
On February 8th, 2022, all 64 episodes were due to expire exactly a year after they were licenced. When you first started streaming the title, as well as on the website itself, there was a removal date. Other sites, such as Unogs and NewonNetflix.info, also identified the title as being removed, among other things.
The title was also noticeably absent from Netflix’s upcoming PR list, which typically lists significant licenced departures (with the caveat that they do often miss a lot of actual removals).
When iCarly initially debuted on Netflix in the United States in February 2021, it quickly rose to the top of the Netflix top ten lists. In actuality, it spent 42 days in the overall top tens (which includes both movies and TV series) and 59 days in the TV top tens alone. Furthermore, since the kid’s top tens debuted later in 2021, the show has aired for a total of 12 days.
Those figures landed the programme in a slew of well-read publications, which ViacomCBS used to advertise its iCarly revival, which premiered on Paramount+ later that year in June 2021. We have no information on how well the revival performed at Paramount+.
This episode was an excellent example of ViacomCBS utilising Netflix in two ways to promote its current lineup as well as a future show. Because just the first two seasons are licenced, anyone who wants to complete their nostalgic binge will have to pay up for Paramount+. Similarly, the show’s reintroduction into the mainstream media provided a chance to advertise the impending revival season.
Argentina, Brazil, Colombia, Mexico, and the United Kingdom are among the Netflix areas that are streaming iCarly. Netflix is exclusively broadcasting the first season in each of these circumstances. Until 2015, it was possible to watch all three seasons in the UK. In 2019, the first season was reintroduced. While we don’t anticipate iCarly to remain in these territories indefinitely, no withdrawal dates have been announced.
