Along with the release of Zack Snyder of the Army of the Dead at Netflix today is the companion documentary film which is only 30 minutes long.

The title creates the Army of the Dead, it gives you a comprehensive view of filming behind the film with an interview with all the main talents behind the camera including a broad time talking to Zack Snyder himself.

Here’s how Netflix describes the doc:

“Zack Snyder and his “Army of the Dead” team dive into the film’s wild stunts, groundbreaking effects and the evolution of the zombie genre.”

There’s plenty of comparison to the first zombie film by Zack Snyder, Dawn of the Dead.

You also see extensive damage from all VFX for the film provided in part by Framestore VFX (which has done a number of original Netflix including Jangle Jingle recently). There are at least 500 VFX shots for films that cover all of them to create a zombie gang to viral sensations, Zombie undead tiger that we were told: “Based on Carole Baskin’s animal protection from Tiger King!”

Of course, the production itself does not appear on the Las Vegas strip so you can see how they managed to create digitally Vegas thoroughly and carried out by Cedarleaf VFX.

This is not the first time the original Netflix title gets a companion documentary film. Earlier this year, the queen gambit joined several rare titles on Netflix who came with one. Others including crystal calls for Netflix are dark crystal series, unortodox, and our planet.

It’s always something that we have prompted Netflix doing more and we hope to see more than this in the future.

Most of the companion documentary ended on YouTube but on publishing, it had not happened to create the dead troops.
