Washington: US President Joe Biden clarified Prime Minister Narendra Modi during the virtual meeting on Monday was not in the interest of India to increase its energy imports from Russia, said Secretary of Press Jen PSAKI.
PSAKI describes the meeting as productive and constructive, and not “hostility”. He refused to say if President Biden asked for a special commitment from India to energy imports.
Biden told PM Modi US standing ready to help India diversify his energy imports, said PSAKI, noting that Indian imports from the US were far greater than their Russian imports.
“The President conveyed very clearly, that it was not in their interest to improve it,” he said.
