The United Nations: The United States said Monday that it expelled 12 members of the United Nations Mission from America because of being “intelligence operations.”

A US mission spokesman to the United Nations said they were ordered to go have “abused their privileges in the United States by being involved in espionage activities that harm our national security.”

“We took this action in accordance with the UN Central Office Agreement. This action has been developed for several months,” said the spokesman, Olivia Dalton.

Richard Mills, Deputy US Ambassador, the United Nations, previously said the Security Council meeting on the humanitarian situation in Ukraine that a dozen had been involved in non-diplomatic activities.

“The diplomats who have been asked to leave the United States are involved in activities that are not in accordance with their responsibilities and obligations as diplomats,” he said, without further outlining.

Vassily Nebenzia said at a press conference at the UN headquarters in New York that 12 had been ordered to leave the United States on March 7.

He refused to determine whether he was among those who were asked to leave.

The Russian mission to the United Nations has around 100 staff, according to the Russian diplomatic source.
